New Media Camcorder

by Roger Hart
This is the video camera that I believe is revolutionary in its size (for candid work), media (affordable and instantly editable SDHC cards) and format (native full HD Final Cut Pro MPEG 2 Quicktime files) Decent stills can be pulled at 2 megapixel size for online use at a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Audio can be recorded at 48K 16bit in PCM format (exactly what FCP wants). This one device with a good tripod and a wide angle conversion lens and a telephoto conversion lens would really be all you need besides good microphones to capture all your New Media content. This camera and a laptop with FCP would enable very quick upload of content to the Web. Need I say more, New Tools for a New Media!  Watch promo video here

The GY-HM100U is a Compact Handheld camcorder with
performance and features found only in larger and more
expensive models. It’s designed to be easy to use, making
it ideal for news reporters and producers. Seasoned
shooters will find that its small size lets them work in
environments where larger cameras would be
impractical—all while producing recordings on par with broadcast
cameras.
